Red felt behind the centre to show off the fretting and c/w it's WW1 TOS Regimental tartan patch which has been shaped and fringed round the badge.

Kriegsmarine U-Boat Badge By Friedrich Orth in zinc. The reverse of the badge is marked “FO” for Friedrich Orth, Wein.
Vertical needle pin and soldered catch, measuring 39mm x 49.7mm.
Most of the original gilding is gone as is usual with zinc badges nevertheless this is a good example from the late war with nice aged patina and no damage or repairs.
