Textbook example.
SS / SA , 1st Pattern circa 1927 Cap Eagle.
Made of Neusilber.
Commonly used on the Kepi and early visor cap.
Also used by the NSDAP until about 1934.
Both prongs on back.

Re introduced in WW2 as a strip of Russia bullion wire braid on khaki cloth as opposed to brass stripes for the Great War.
There does not seem to be a general consensus on whether whese were worn by officers in the Great War or were introduced in this form for WW2.
This one however is directly attributable to a British officer badly injured in WW2.
