WW1 - 8TH ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HLDRS. OFFICERS DESK SET

Very rare probably a One Off example of an officers portable field writing / desk set.
Polished mahogany cover with green Morocco leather opening back with document pockets.
What really sets this off is the high quality unique solid silver badge / Regimental device applied to the wood front( a/f. )
Top outer scrolls with " Princess Louises "
Lower scrolls with " Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders " within beautifully hand etched thistle sprays .
Inner buckle strap with " The Argyllshire Battalion "
To the fretted centre an Argyll Boars Head over a strung bugle with an " 8 ". The Argyllshire Highland Rifles were designated the 8th A & S.H. after 1881 but carried on a lot of their old traditions.
No rubbing or damage to the badge and apart from the wood having lost it's outer edge on one side this is V.G.C.
Unique and attributable ( officers name to buyer ).
This came direct from the family home along with the officers uniform and a German Stahlhelm bring back nearly 3 decades ago and has been in my personal Argylls collection since.
The officer served before and into the Great War
