This is a solid silver Officers badge for wear exclusively on the India Pattern Foreign Service helmet.
NOT a repurposed standard cap badge!!!
Some light polishing to the high points.
A red painted backing plate has been rivetted to the back.
Red backing is an Argylls affectation to bring on the detail out on badges.
Lugs.
Incredibly rare.

There were 3 versions of this badge , one in white metal ,solid silver and also a deep gilded one.
In my 65 years collecting to the Argylls I only ever managed to find one of each which went straight into my collection.
Last year I let the w/m go.
When it's gone it's gone so I would think waiting for a cheaper one to come along is a thing dreams are made of.
