51ST HIGHLAND DIVISION CAMERON / SEAFORTHS/ THE QUEENS OWN HLDRS. - OFFICER / Pipe / Major - TAM O SHANTER BONNET

This is a great looking bonnet circa the 1950's .
I'm guessing this is from before the amalgamation period of the Camerons and Seaforths , Feb. 1961 when they became the Queens Own Highlanders ( Cameron & Seaforth ).
Tailored for the soldier as was the practice in the 50's through into the early '80's.
The brim has been stitched to give a sharper more pronounced edge and the sides stand up vey reminiscent of the early Northern Ireland period.
Officer quality bonnet.
Has a double tartan patch , the lower being in Cameron tartan presumably the Mans 1st Regiment ? topped with Seaforth Mc Kenzie tartan , this interestingly fashioned from silk bagpipe ribbons indicating a Pipe Band Senior Rank , Pipe Major or Pipe Sergeant .
This is also backed up by the original to it , Officer / SNCO's 51st Highland Staff badge , not worn by ordinary ranks.
This is a fantastic heavy early , most likely solid silver example with bolt on features.( Normally £65 + )
Sadly the lugs have been removed and the badge has been period stitched on.
Approx size 55/56.
Scarce.
