WW2 - FAIRBAIRN / SYKES COMMANDO DAGGER - RARE AMERICAN MARINE CORPS PATTERN

WW2 Era American USMC F.S. Variant.
Cast Alloy Ringed Handle with it's original black finish .
WW2 Era USMC Style.
Features on page 139 of Flook’s book, " The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives " where this and similar USMC type hilt variants and colours are featured.
The author in the feature makes the comment that these knives are something of a mystery regarding their origin & there is no evidence as to them having been official issue.
Hilt is cast alloy with ringed finishing.
The cross guard and handle are a one piece casting and has a fillet on the underside, similar to the WW2 USMC stiletto.
They came in various finishes inc. black, copper and grey.
Clean undamaged blade with a good point and measures approx 174 mm.
Handle retains almost all it's original finish.
C/w it's original good condition brown leather Bowie knife type sheath with working popper.
Some soldier details hand impressed to the front. ( see pics ).
Extremely rare version according to Frederick Stephens.
Made in Sheffield..
No issues.
