WW1 - RIVER FORTH GUN BATTERY - INCHKEITH ISLAND ARMOURY PADLOCK WITH KEY
Rare One off item being the large brass armoury padlock for the North Battery on Inchkeith Island in the River Forth.
Defences had been constructed on the various islands in the River Forth in the late 1800's and continued right through until the end of WW2.
Inchkeith Island had 3 Gun Batteries.
They were protecting the Forth Bridge , which did come under attack and also the Rosyth Naval Base .
This padlock is marked up to the North Battery , " North Inchkeith " as well as having a large , " W.D. " and arrow.. Also . " Hobbs & Co.London , " Machine Made - Lever ".
Excellent working condition and with it's original key .
Solid brass.
Circa the Great War but likely continued in use through WW2.
Measures, 6 inches x 3 and a half inches approx .
