93RD HIGHLANDERS OFFICERS SILVER GLENGARRY BADGE

One of these badges that you rarely see for sale.
Rare, heavy cast silver officers glengarry badge circa 1868 to 1881.
Beautiful well detailed badge with fretted outer thistles, fretted centre with " 93 " and raised strap giving it a lovey 3 D effect.
Stout ( correct ) overlong pin to back with evidence of originally having had 4 lugs.
I am confident it's an early Kirkwoods of Edinburgh example going by the construction and although there is no trademark it is their distinctive style.
I mention this because as far as I am concerned , the quality of their badges were way ahead of everyone else.
No rubbing or damage.
From my personal collection of Argylls items built up over 50 years.
Truly a thing of beauty and a regretted sale.
