WW2 M40 GERMAN HELMET - NO DECAL - QUIST 66
Scarce Post 1940 decal drop large size Quist 66 M40 combat helmet.
Rear mkd, " Q66 " and Lot no. " DN ...", the rest of code being obscured by a paint run which is recorded as characteristic of helmets coming out at that time ( Brian Ice ).
Sheepskin liner retains it's light tan colour although a bit dry.
All tongue ends undamaged and clear (size) " 59 " ink stamp.
Period cord draw string.
Finish is a rough texture field grey , not the old Luftwaffe blue they went back to on some helmets from this period.
Full length maker mkd ( Reichel ? ) and 1940 dtd. chin strap with aluminium buckle. One small nick out the long part otherwise very good.
Note, for a long period , Quist Dn's were largely produced as no decal helmets and the fact this has survived as such and not been enhanced by the addition of a post war applied decal makes it a scarce helmet.
Scarce.
