42nd Royal Highland (The Black Watch) Regiment of Foot glengarry badge circa 1874-81.
This badge pre dates the 42nd with the numbered centre.
Likely worn on the Foreign Service helmet.
Die-stamped silver plated elongated Thistle Star bearing St. Andrew and Cross in crowned oval motto ,"Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" over Sphinx on "EGYPT" Battle Honour. (K & K 496)
Uncleaned with dark age toning.
Original pin and hook, not a conversion from lugs.
Domed centre.
No rubbing or damage.
Will clean up nicely if desired.
