DUMBARTONSHIRE VOLUNTEERS FEATHER BONNET BADGE

Very interesting badge.
It's a rare nickel silver plated brass example and looks like at one time the Elephant and howdah was red and possibly the thistle tops as well ?
This was how it came to me back in the day , worthy of a bit of research.
Nice flat shape as per earlier examples.
Sharp die struck detail.
Long lugs for wear on the feather bonnet.
This is another old friend that's been in my collection for over 30 years and is totally untouched.
I am suspicious of the identical o/r's versions of this badge in the market place , there are just far too many around.
This is a cracking early original , One Looker !
