ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS VICTORIAN OFFICERS BADGER HEAD SPORRAN

This is the most striking looking Badger Head sporran I've had and has been in my personal Argylls collection for over 30 years.
Huge mask in incredible shape considering it's vintage with literally no hair loss.
Officers gold braided cord with gilded tassle tops with thistle motif , these with their original ( not replacement ) red felt trim.
Brass cantle.
Front opening purse below the head,
Red morocco leather back , correct for early examples.
Original trim, some of the stitching on this is a/f having simply rotted with age.
Trim is all there and it's an easy fix.
This is a rare 100% original , never refurbed or tampered with apart from a previous owner has put a bit of Velcro inside the top of the pocket .
This was the 1st Badger I ever got .
Back in the day , they never left the Battalion but were instead handed on the the next guy.
This one according to the previous owner he got from one of the Burma Railway P.O.W.'s who had managed to hold on to it during his captivity.
My vendor did'nt leave on good terms so sold me his sporran.
I will include a correct white buff leather strap ( not shown ) with the sale.
Hard to better the look of this.
