Textbook example of a trophy Great War German
Officers private purchase Trench Fighting / Hunting Knife in excellent condition.
Clean blade retaining it's bright finish .
Good point .
The left side has nice deep crossed hammer motto and "Hammer / & Schlaegel / Solingen". retaining it's inset blackening on the aforesaid.
A small bit of darkening near the tip.
The clip point blade measures 5 7/8 inches long .
Nicely engraved with the British soldiers name, " R. Paterson "
The knife has a silver "S" guard with silver grip collar and flat nickel silver pommel and a very substantial antler horn handle.
The pommel has an incised design.
Military type metal scabbard , retaining what looks like the original black paint.
Brown leather hanging loop with correct low set retaining strap and correct period popper.
Popper has an elaborate cross type device on the surface .
Very clean .
Rare " One Off " vet bring back / trophy.
