CAMERONIANS - 1950 DTD. - RIFLE GREEN BALMORAL BONNET
An extremely rare , short lived example of an issue Cameronians Balmoral bonnet.
Balmorals were used by the Scottish Regiments briefly before their going back to glengarries.
This version is unique to the Cameronians.
Rifle Green wool body with black touree to crown.
Two tails to back, these nicely knotted at the top similar to Atholl bonnets used by the S.H.
Cord size adjuster behind the knotted part .
To the crown , clear stampings in white of , W.D. arrow , maker details " J.J.& W. Hood & Co. Kilmarnock " , " 7 " ( size ? ) and " 1950 " date.
Beautiful fringed rosette with good w/m O/r's badge which is original to it . No extra holes.
I would say it's size 56/57 approx.
No moth or damage, very slight service wear to the trim.
The only one I've ever come across but there are photos of these being worn period.
Unfortunately the price reflects the rarity and condition.
