WW1 ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HLDRS CAP BADGE - RARE BRASS LOOPS

Nice toned example. This one with rare flat brass loops cut from sheet brass as opposed to the normal wire type.
These I've only encountered on Scottish badges and I'm unsure if they were for a specific type of headgear or a manufacturing variant ?
